Welcome to OpenRevyu ("we," "us," "our"), accessible at openrevyu.com. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of OpenRevyu, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

OpenRevyu is an AI-powered academic paper review platform. Users upload research papers and receive AI-generated reviews that provide feedback on structure, methodology, clarity, and other scholarly criteria. The service is designed to complement, not replace, traditional peer review.

3. Account Registration

To use the platform, you must create an account with a valid email address and a secure password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at ainnovatex@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Credits & Payments

• Pricing. Each review credit costs $10 USD.
• Free first review. Every new account receives one free review credit. No credit card is required.
• Credit validity. Credits never expire.
• Payment processing. Payments are handled by Stripe. OpenRevyu does not store your credit card information on its servers.
• Failed reviews. If a review fails to generate due to a system error, the credit used is automatically refunded to your account.
• No refunds for completed reviews. Once a review has been successfully delivered, the credit consumed is non-refundable.

5. Intellectual Property

• Your content. You retain full ownership of all papers and materials you upload to OpenRevyu. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
• Limited license. By uploading a paper, you grant OpenRevyu a limited, non-exclusive license to process and analyze the paper solely for the purpose of generating your review. This license terminates when you delete the paper or your account.
• No training use. Your papers are never used to train AI models.

6. AI Disclaimer

Reviews generated by OpenRevyu are produced by large language models (LLMs) and are provided on an "as-is" basis. AI-generated reviews are not a substitute for human peer review. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any review. You should not rely solely on AI reviews for publication, funding, or academic decisions.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates third-party rights.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the platform.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service without prior written consent.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform.
• Use the platform for any purpose other than its intended academic review function.

8. Data & Privacy

• Papers are stored securely on Amazon S3 and can be deleted by you at any time.
• Paper content is sent to LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) for review generation. These providers process the content but do not retain it beyond the request.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OpenRevyu and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to the platform or other users. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time. Upon termination, any unused credits are forfeited.

11. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting the updated version on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of the platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Morocco. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Morocco.
